Pencil is a battery-operated portable and rechargeable lighting module, available in three sizes. A “touch” control on one end allows switching on/off, dimming (4-step: 100%, 60%, 30%, 6%) and selecting the color temperature of the light (2700 K, 3150 K or 4000 K). It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and salt spray resistant (1500 h). An electronic control system monitors the remaining autonomy and ensures a constant luminous flux until the battery runs out. Recharging is therefore optimized and always properly done. The lighting module can be recharged in two ways: either with the battery charger or in the docking station, connected to a battery charger (pg. 184). The battery charger is not included.

Concept

Pencil is a lighting system consisting of a rechargeable battery-powered cordless light module, and the dedicated accessories that transform it into a wall, pendant, and floor/table lamp. The module can therefore be used in its fixed housing, but also removed and carried from one place to another, and used independently: it will continue to function for a long time, until the accumulated charge power runs out (up to 58 h). The LED source produces a bright, well-directed light, which- thanks to the 4-step dimming and the color temperature selection functions – provides the most appropriate illumination for public and private spaces, also outdoors. Pencil has been selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory for ADI Design Index 2022.
