Y5 barchair 63cm ash black,

Five rotated molded plywood cut-outs that reminiscent of letter Y are linked together into an organic and strong form of the backrest. These upside-down Y-s define the chair’s identity, but as well provide a great seat comfort together with the other parts of the chair made out of solid wood. Y5 chair with its simple graphic expression can fit any modern or traditional environment. In cooperation with Hans K the Y5 chair has been produced since 2016 and has already won two great awards.

In 2018 – German Design Award.

In 2016 – Design S award, a Swedish national design award granted by Svensk Form. Motivation of the jury: In his work, designer Sami Kallio combines traditional carpentry methods with innovative techniques. Wood is his primary material and shows his dedication to environmentally sustainable design. His chair Y5 has origins in the history of Swedish design, but Kallio flips the backrest in Hans Wegner’s well-known Y-chair and multiplies it into an intricately woven pattern with structural strength and honorable design.
