Concept
Ce projet est né comme experiment pour exprimer l’eccellence du bois plié jusq’au maximum. Le but n’était pas seulement l’exploration de la beauté sculpturale mais aussi de maximaliser la foncionalité d’une structure minimaliste. Le resultat final est un tabouret en monocoque, né d’un seul feuille de multiplis. A difference des autres tabourets, il n’y a aucune division /interuption entre les parties et donc aucune distraction: assise et dos, se fondent l’un d’un l’autre dans un seul movement liquide. La grande base disperse au sol les tensions structurales.

a studio is a design company established by a Japanese designer, Shin Azumi, in London. The activity is across product, furniture and space design, and working with a variety of areas of clients including consumer products, furniture, lighting, electronics, audio equipments, space design including interior of shop, restaurant and exhibition, etc. Shin Azumi and the works won numerous awards in Europe and in Japan. They are also invited for many exhibitions organised by Design Museum(UK), British Council(UK), Vitra Design Museum (Germany) and so on. Also works are acquired as permanent collection by Stedelijk Museum (Holland), Crafts Council (UK), Die Neue Sammlung (Germany), etc. Observation + Distillation Observation is always the key of development. We try to look at all the phenomena around the project objectively as much as possible, and try to clarify the point to develop the project. On the process of distillate the ideas, the end result is often purified as a simple solution. Fun + Function Functionality is the key to make the life of a design last longer. However, we looking at not only physical functionality but also the effect of psychological functionality. Interactivity + Theatricality Design is completed when it is used by people. Providing satisfactory interactive quality is a key of the design. We always try to create a maximum effect with a minimum solution.
