The heat is on

During a recent dinner party I attended, the conversation turned to what each of us would do if we had a windfall of cash. Hollywood teeth was what our host wished for herself. Not a bad idea, I thought to myself. You can never be too bright of mouth. But what I'd really spend the money on is a showstopping kitchen. No question.

Contemporary kitchen projects continue to be characterised by a spatial continuity with living areas as a whole. No longer just contiguous zones, they now form the focal point of the domestic landscape – and, as such, demonstrate much greater consideration in their architectural articulation and material expression. Keep those taps polished.

Loft 32, Zlín by Petr Janda / brainwork
Photo: BoysPlayNice

The loft is situated on the 8th floor of a former Baťa shoe factory building in Zlín, overlooking the green heart of the town. Its design aims to integrate the town’s image into the space of the apartment. The design approach contradicts the usual loft-making procedure, which often emphasises industrial materials in the interior.
