The outsiders

It may already be sunny enough out there, but in this issue of Product Focus, we direct a few extra rays of light on three distinct outdoor brands – Pratic, Minotti and Punto Design – who, each in their own way, offer another compelling reason for leaving the house.

Glazed expression

The new Glass Series from Italian shade specialist Pratic offers users more comfort and control than ever for enjoying the great outdoors – even from inside. Based in Udine, Pratic has been manufacturing pergolas and awnings since 1960, and with the Glass Series it transforms the pergola into a space to be enjoyed year-round, whatever the weather.

Available in a variety of formats, this modular, glass-panel system is installed around the perimeter of the structure, allowing users the freedom to open the space up to the sun, or, alternatively, offering protection from wind or rain when necessary – all the while providing uninterrupted, panoramic views of the surrounding environment.

Welcome to Fynn land

If Minotti’s aptly named, new outdoor-furniture family is suggestive of Scandinavia, this is no coincidence. The new Fynn Outdoor collection – comprising armchairs, dining and lounge chairs, stools, footrests, benches and tables  – comes from the Copenhagen studio of GamFratesi, and seeks to blend Scandinavian and Italian values and traditions.

Entirely handcrafted and made of teak wood, the collection utilises traditional cabinet-making processes. The chairs combine a distinctive interwoven, wicker-effect frame and elegantly curved, elongated armrests, which host its single-piece cushion and backrest. The smooth, gentle curvature of the solid-teak dining table harmoniously complements the family’s other elements – together enhancing outdoor spaces from Milan to Malmö.

From Russia with love

Whether urban furniture, unique installations for public spaces, outdoor sport and fitness facilities, or furniture for the HoReCa sector, Punto Design has a customised solution. Founded in 2002, the company has grown to become the segment leader in its native Russia.

Its Punto Fit line, for example, ranges from simple pieces such as jumping boxes and abdominal exercisers to full outdoor fitness facilities that can accommodate up to 30 people at once. These can be implemented in a wide variety of spaces and offer an economical alternative to traditional gyms. In addition to outdoor, public furniture, Punto specialises in head-turning, unique sculptures made of robust Corten steel, whose colour evolves over time, lending them a rich, timeless character.
