Green in the face
 
Shared, public green spaces in cities have never been more critical. And not just because of the increased, and enforced, amounts of time we're spending indoors. The physical and mental respite they afford from Staying At Home is, I would suggest, attended by a need for us to encounter each other – or, rather, 'the other' – in all their difference from us, their diversity, which, in turn, reinscribes in us the notion of shared societal values, expressed via a public discourse. Something that an excessive digital existence, and in particular an overuse of social media, as some see it, threatens to challenge.
