Hey! Teacher!

School. The best years of your life (allegedly). Mine played out in a redbrick, Victorian-gothic pile in South London, replete with tracery, turrets and the odd oriel window. Think Hogwarts for the children of the aspiring middle classes. With inadequate heating.

It's now generally accepted that the design of schools can have a direct impact on learning outcomes. A more individualised approach to teaching requires flexible architectural schemes that facilitate a range of pedagogical methods. The clever projects are the ones that also deliver social and environmental solutions. Full marks.
