An Ultimate Offer that Meets the Highest Requirements

For eight years now, Heimtextil – the biggest international trade fair for home textiles – has been using the Contract Creations section to present its target-group product spectrum to architects and interior designers in particular, and to reinforce its profile as a major forum within this field.

There is special focus on the hotel business, with dedicated guided tours geared specifically to architects and hotel specialists to provide preferential coverage of the companies listed in the Contract Guide. And making a strong impact as the industry’s definitive trend show is the newly installed Theme Park, offering further specialised events such as presentations, round-table discussions and competitions.

Heimtextil creates worldwide forum for contract furnishings

© Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH

From 14 to 17 January 2015, Heimtextil will be presenting, in Frankfurt am Main, furnishing textiles for the contract business. "Large numbers of the more than 2,700 international exhibitors will offer product ranges specifically designed with the contract market in mind. As a result, Heimtextil provides a crucially important world forum for the hotel and architectural sectors," says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.

At the centre of all the product ranges on offer is the Heimtextil 'Theme Park', a unique area dedicated to current trends, which provides memorable settings for recent developments that can be identified as having general currency throughout the sector. Lectures, guided tours, special shows and video presentations all contribute to giving visitors access to the visionary ideas and provide practical guidance.

The "Contract Guide" provides an index of more than 300 exhibitors, who all offer specialist products and ideas for whole-room solutions in the field of contract furnishings. It will be available at the Exhibition Centre free of charge. The use of labels on the exhibition stands with the words "Contract Creations" will enable the companies listed in the index to be easily found at the Exhibition Centre.

Lectures for the hotel and architecture industries

With the "Theme Park", the forthcoming Heimtextil show sees the arrival of a new, central forum of inspiration in Hall 4.0. It creates the space for a comprehensive presentation of themes that will be of crucial relevance to the sector in the future, and draws attention to contemporary, design-oriented issues.

The focus in the new "Theme Park" will be very much on hospitality, presenting pioneering projects relating to the hotel trade and architecture. In addition to this, Heimtextil, working in cooperation with the trade journals AIT and xia, will be offering a series of lectures for architects and interior designers.

With the title "Radical living", the programme brings together eight individualistic approaches to contemporary architecture, which go well beyond established standards and formats and explore new areas in experimental ways. Well-known architects from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Tokyo and Vienna will illuminate a variety of trend-setting projects. On the agenda on 14, 15 and 16 January 2015 will be talks given by experts in their field, together with panel discussions in both German and English.

A second series of lectures will address the concerns of hotel managers; in collaboration with the German Hotel Association (Hotelverband Deutschland - IHA ), Heimtextil has developed a programme on the subject of IT in the hotel industry. This will take place on 15 January in the "Lecture Square" in Galleria 1.

Guided tours for architects and hoteliers

In cooperation with the trade journal HotelDesign/AHGZ, Heimtextil is inviting decision-makers from the hotel industry on a tour of the trade fair: accompanied by Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk from the Hamburg architectural practice, JOI Design, and Henning Weiss from 25hours hotels, participants will be able to gain an overview of furnishing trends in the hotel and contract business. The guided tours begin on 15 January at 11.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. in the "Community Area" ("Theme Park", Hall 4.0).

In another guided tour of the trade fair, editors from the trade journal AIT will present the most interesting product innovations for the contract sector from an architect's point of view. On 15 January at 10.30 a.m. and 16 January at 10.30 a.m., the tour will stop by at stands of both well-known manufacturers and newcomers to Heimtextil. The meeting point for these tours is the "Community Area" ("Theme Park", Hall 4.0).

Young design for hotel furnishings

Budding designers and interior architects will be providing inspiration for hotel furnishings in the 'young talents' area, called "Campus", in Hall 4.2. Graduates and students from 15 European universities will be designing the furnishings and fittings for hotel rooms and exhibiting their visionary concepts for furnishing design. As a complement to this, the design schools will be inviting anyone with a special interest in the area to attend workshops on the theme of "Hotel Europe". The "Campus" project is a joint venture between Heimtextil and "Best of Design, powered by rooms for free e.V."

Architects and designers select Heimtextil products for a special display

Led by the trade journal AIT, some 25 trend scouts, representing the professions of architecture and interior design, will identify the latest sector trends at Heimtextil. The results of this scouting process will be displayed on the stand dedicated to the Innovations Award "Architektur+ Textil Objekt" from the second day of the trade fair onwards. For those with a particular interest in innovation, the trend scouts are offering a guided tour of the award-winning exhibitors on 16 January 2015 at 12 noon. The starting point is the "Community Area" ("Theme Park, Hall 4.0).

On top of all this, the architecture trade journals AIT and xia, in cooperation with Heimtextil, will once again be offering the "Architektur+ Textil Objekt" Innovations Award. It underlines the importance of high architectural quality in textile products and room design. The competition is aimed at architects, interior architects and designers, as well as industrial companies and others involved in the processing of textile products, contract textiles and whole-room furnishing solutions. The award ceremony will take place on 14 January 2015 at 5 p.m. in the Foyer of Halls 5.1 / 6.1. The winning products can be seen here in a special exhibition during Heimtextil.
