Architecture, heal thyself

At last. Health authorities are finally grasping the role that architecture can – and, frankly, must – play in patient care and recovery. From day clinics to hospitals, new projects show a greater emphasis on daylight and a connection with nature, while, at the same time, devoting more space to communal activity and therapy. There's still an awful lot of catching-up to be done here, of course (I recently accompanied my father to what can only be described as a Victorian horror in my native London), but the prognosis is good.
