FRANKFURT FUTURES 

Light + Building is definitely one of those trade fairs you look forward to. Maybe because the big-top international event is itself so future-facing. The application of existing and new technologies to lighting and building services is its exhibitionary raison-d'etre. Add to that environmental sustainability – no longer a trend, but a critical factor in the innovation of any new product or system. Doors open on 18 March. 

And while you're in Frankfurt, there's always DAM, the German Architecture Museum, to drop into for some inspiration from the past. Check out their current exhibition on Brutalism. But be nice.

GREAT DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

This year’s ‘Design Plus powered by Light + Building’ puts the spotlight on the triad of design, ecology and technology. For the expert jury, 39 product innovations fulfilled these criteria in a special way. 222 products were entered by 154 companies – all exhibitors of Light + Building 2018. The competition is organised by Messe Frankfurt and the German Design Council and attracts exhibitors from all over the world including China, India, Japan, Canada, Columbia and the USA.
