Bath time

In this issue of Product Focus, we showcase Agape, Duravit and Quadrodesign, three companies whose innovative, new collections continue to expand the concept of the bathroom as not simply a place for cleaning, but rather as the setting for refreshing, relaxing and rejuvenating experiences – and where thoughtful design plays a central role.

Take it outside

The bathroom just got a little bigger – at least as far as Agape is concerned. 2020 sees the Italian manufacturer launch their outdoor collection, a combination of 14 new and revised Agape designs which seeks to expand the bathroom experience into the open. Equally suitable for inside or out, the collection seeks to blur traditional, bathroom boundaries.

Take, for example, the washbasin from the Diego Vencato and Marco Merendi-designed Petra collection. Produced using Cementoskin®, a new form of evolved concrete, outside, it blends into its surroundings while turning heads indoors. Available in various colours, the product family also includes shower column and tray. With the outdoor collection, Agape combines, as before, high-quality materials with Made in Italy craftsmanship – but now, with optional sun.

Make me smile

Duravit’s Happy D.2 Plus line by sieger design, with its choice of light or dark finishes, already offered bathroom specifiers a broad scope for individual expression. Now with the addition of two new innovations – c-bonded and c-shaped – Duravit gives bathroom users even more reason to smile.

The c-bonded process allows the metal console to be seamlessly joined with the ceramic washbasin while the c-shaped technology enables the basin to perfectly mirror the shape and curvature of its furniture housing. This means no overhangs, no recesses, but rather, clean, elegant lines and a uniform 4mm gap between one another. Washbasins also come in wall-mounted, base unit and metal console versions for maximum design flexibility.

Tap dancing

Quadrodesign’s new Valvola01 series remains true to company values that encompass sustainability and reliability, and a design philosophy that strives to be simultaneously both modern and timeless. This young Piedmont-based manufacturer of bathroom taps specialises in marrying highest-quality, stainless steel materials with dynamic, contemporary design.

Designed by Studio Andolini, Valvola01 has an industrial feel and different elements can be combined for a wide variety of applications and styles. The series features a PVD finish – available in three variations: light gold, pink gold and black gold – which allows the inherent qualities of the steel to be preserved and perhaps, more importantly, is environmentally friendlier than alternative coating processes.
