Burkhardt Leitner constructiv develops, produces and distributes modular architectural systems for temporary constructions in the fields of trade fair and display, office and public space, museum and exhibition. Our main tasks include the development, the design and the product communication of the single components and their complex construction, the production of these architectural systems and their worldwide distribution via sales, planning and licence partners. The high functionality of our architectural systems is based on their logical, self-explaining construction principles. Their flexibility and modularity offer freedom of design. Reduction and clarity in form are our guiding principles in the aesthetic design. The use of high-quality materials guarantees a long service life, sustainability and preservation of resources.

Philosophy

Archetype and architecture

There are archetypal architectural forms that recur and continue to develop throughout all ages and cultures. One of them is the nomad's tent, the original type of temporary and portable architecture.

Modularity and mobility

Modular building is a child of the industrial age. In the modern age, it has grown up to become both a func-tional and a design element. The precision of industrially prefabricated components permits undreamed-of perfection in architecture.

Transience and permanence

Soon after it’s assembled, the stand is dismantled into very small transport units and sets off on its travels. What remains is the impression it leaves on the visitor.

Sense and sensibility

Sense and sensibility, economic level-headedness and aesthetic light-headedness – our systems find their confusingly simple expression in what's seemingly contradictory. What makes sense is the modular design, reduced to the essentials.

The Team

Even though we are thirty in number – planners, designers, engineers and sales people: the bureaucratic assignment of functions is unknown to us. Because each of us is responsible to the others and to the whole thing. Whether it's system development or architectural planning: all projects are handled in open teams of varying composition. And the team includes the client too. It is only in a dialogue with you that complex problems can be reduced to simple solutions. It is with this "constructive" cooperation that we have made a name for ourselves in the literal sense. That name is: Burkhardt Leitner constructiv.

Company History

1993 Formation of Burkhardt Leitner constructiv GmbH & Co. KG as think tank for the development of exhibition systems, three employees. Production, storage and distribution are taken over by external partners. 1994 constructiv JUNIOR, constructiv PRIMUS, constructiv JOKER, constructiv MAX, constructiv PANO, constructiv SIXO, constructiv PILA 1996 Relocation to larger offices “Am Bismarckturm”, ten employees. Integration of the distribution with international licence and sales partners. constructiv PILA Petite, constructiv PILA Doppelstock, constructiv INSIDE, constructiv WING 1997 constructiv CLIC, constructiv POSTO 1998 Strategic extension of business fields as regards office; development of acoustically effective modules. constructiv PILA Office 2000 Opening of our Berlin office. 2001 Relocation to larger offices in the city centre of Stuttgart, 30 employees. Burkhardt Leitner

Just ten days after coming of age, he founded his first company. In more than thirty years, he made his name into a synonym for trade fair and exhibition systems- Burkhardt Leitner. Continuing in the tradition of Bauhaus and the Ulm School, he set standards for functional aesthetics in trade fair design. A system player of restless curiosity, who not only worked on new types of architecture system, but also dedicated himself to promoting international design- as a jury member of the Mia-Seeger-Stiftung or as a member of the board of the Rat für Formgebung (design council), to which he was appointed as the first designer from the trade fair and exhibition field.
