Mito linear – a holistic luminaire system

Light waves. The clue is in the name. They oscillate. But while the intangible stuff that lends shape, depth and contrast to space may be, well, wavy, there’s nothing undulating about Occhio’s new luminaire system, Mito linear.

As archly architectural as the brand’s existing Mito series, Mito linear takes the shortest route between two points, marrying resolutely linear, super-rational forms with sophisticated finishes, and, of course, the advanced lighting technology we’ve come to expect from Occhio. The result is a system of floor, suspended and ceiling lights that lends itself eminently to specification by professionals in both contract and residential environments.

Meet the new family. Mito volo is a pendant luminaire that, like all of its siblings, delivers the optimal light for home, work and hybrid spaces. Its height is adjustable with just one hand, while its touchless control at the light source itself allows users to activate, dim and spread illumination between uplight and downlight.

Mito alto, meanwhile, is a glare-free, ceiling-mounted luminaire, ultra-slim in profile and available in various lengths. Its sister, Mito alto side, possesses the same features, but is designed to provide walls with a wash of architecture-enhancing light. An integrated, convertor in the “up” mounting option ensures that the minimalist aesthetic is adhered to. It’s a case of plug and play.

Back to down to earth and Mito terra and Mito terra 3d deliver floor-standing lighting solutions packed with innovative technology. Developed with workspaces in mind, in particular, they feature a body sensor that makes for ease of control while seated and working, a motion sensor that ensures the light comes on when a person enters the room, and ambient light control. The latter adjusts the light dynamically to changing natural-light levels, ensuring that optimal lighting conditions are maintained constantly.

Mito terra 3d, moreover, provides additional functionality in terms of its three-dimensional movability.

And, if that weren’t enough in terms of smarts, each product in the Mito linear system features “color tune” technology, which allows the user to change the light temperature to suit their changing needs. Adjustable between 2,700 and 4,000K, it allows for precise, mood-specific illumination – during darker hours it can deliver a warmer light for users and conversely, for working, a cooler light can be emitted.

Never was lighting so architecturally sound.
