Leolux’s latest creative collaboration is with Milan’s sought-after space-shapers Studiopepe. The outcome is Lunetta, a cocooning sofa which will launch at the Alcova exhibition during Salone del Mobile. It will demonstrate the synergy between Leolux and Studiopepe, which started life as an interior styling partnership between Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto, but has evolved into a studio of 15 architects and interior professionals who juggle interior and product design, creative direction and a laboratory of research into colour and materials. ‘The work of Studiopepe holds material details at the fore,’ says Joey Booy of Leolux’s art directors team Studio Truly Truly.

Perfectly arranged ruching announces the sofa’s soft, enveloping nature, while the detachable pocket is a well-considered practical detail

Studiopepe’s poetic, detail-focused approach shines through in its design for Lunetta, the first piece they have brought to the 90-year-old Dutch brand. Cupped in a softly-cornered upholstery frame, a single pillowy base cushion forms the seat and arms, inviting you to sink into its comforting confines. The ruched back is similarly cloud-like and continues the line created by the arms, turning the whole piece into a three-sided cushioned container.

An upholstered frame with soft, rounded corners brings structure to Lunetta, while not compromising its air of comfort and informality

The frame can be upholstered in the same or contrasting fabric to the rest and there is the option to add a ‘pocket’ for the hand storage of remotes, phones or books – the weighted strip comes in leather, real or artificial – and wedges between frame and cushion. Teamed with a coordinating coffee table and rug, Lunetta will be the star at Leolux’s theatrical Alcova exhibition in Milan.
