The combination of “illuminatio” and “artis” stands for a range of attractively designed products from luminaire producer ILLUMINARTIS.
For managing director Thomas Germann, the indirect component is an essential part of any lighting design because it creates a totally different atmosphere than direct lighting. As its name suggests, the young lighting firm attaches great importance to handcrafted quality and aesthetic luminaires that provide efficient, homogeneous lighting without harsh or multiple shadows. Thomas Germann: “Although there are plenty of attractive luminaires on the market, they often don’t provide enough light.”
It was his desire to remedy the situation that gave rise to the first luminaire in 2009: Rhombus. It consists of a single piece of aluminium perforated with distinctive rhombus-shaped openings for optimal thermal management. In the case of the Conversio pendant lamp, which was launched in 2014 and created in collaboration with renowned design studio Atelier oï, the lampshade consists of a pressed piece of aluminium with a homogeneous finish. Thanks to a sophisticated mechanism based on a steel spring, the user can direct the light as required and choose whether to illuminate the table or the ceiling.
The success of the pendant lamp prompted a new addition to the multi-award-winning Conversio collection: a floor lamp was added to the range in late 2015. Thanks to an ingenious system, the two light sources of this model can be tilted in the desired direction and dimmed independently of one another, enabling the user to create a wide variety of lighting moods.
