In creating SPLACES, Interstuhl scrutinised, questioned and rearranged processes, workflows and everyday situations. Arriving and feeling welcome, concentrating and working in a focused way, discussing and promoting exchange, training and learning, deciding and leading, relaxing and recharging the batteries. Every activity in our daily work has a different dynamic and needs its place. It is not necessary however, to throw the past away completely or reinvent the wheel. SPLACES takes positive experiences, familiar processes and proven elements and reinterprets them – with today’s requirements in mind.

With its WELCOME, MEET, WORK, RELAX, LEARN and LEAD zones, SPLACES opens up new possibilities for creating interesting solutions for a wide variety of scenarios. Divided into these areas, the appropriate environments are created for all of today’s work situations and, above all, tomorrow’s. This approach is more than a simple zoning concept though, it’s an invitation to architects and planners to work together – whether it’s brainstorming ideas, developing a plan, or realising a concept – on making ‘open space’ ready for the challenges of New Work.
