How do we want to live and work in the future? And to what extent will our private and professional lives grow together? The multi-award-winning interior designer Peter Ippolito puts it in a nutshell: ‘Offices of the future are places of encounter, of exchange, of communication. The design should promote creativity and inspire. In a world where a lot of communication takes place via digital media, there is a need for real encounters.’
Inspiring work environments, however, only come about when people feel comfortable, and a whole range of factors can contribute to this. Floor design that is engaging in terms of both colour and feel is undoubtedly one of them. Today, the idea of comfort is by no means limited to the private sphere. Office and retail spaces, hotels and restaurants are also increasingly becoming places where carpeting is used to set strong accents beyond the purely functional.
The ‘Rugx’ carpet collection offers architects and designers great scope for design. You shouldn't really need to be introduced to this series as by now, it should be quite common knowledge among creatives the extent to which Object Carpet goes in order to make unusual design ideas possible. The series is designed in such a way that there are practically no limits, whether in terms of quality, colour or size. Creative freedom is the clear message here for all those who design floors.

How exactly a Rugx carpet should look in relation to sizes, shape and colour can be determined and judged online using Object Carpet's configurator

Based in Denkendorf near Stuttgart in Germany, the company has set itself the goal of being able to offer suitable solutions for a wide range of different places with a broad range of innovative carpet products. Founded by Roland Butz in 1972, it is still family-run today, which means it can draw on 50 years of expertise and experience in the manufacture of carpeting and support on interior projects.
One quality factor here is certainly its ‘Made in Germany’ credentials. All Rugx carpets are manufactured at its production site in Krefeld. A multitude of steps are necessary to produce a fitted Rugx and most of them are done by hand. There is also added ecological value here in that over 70% of its products are made from recycled Econyl yarn and have been awarded the Blue Angel. By 2024, the goal is for all materials used by Object Carpet to be recyclable.
How exactly a Rugx carpet should look in relation to sizes, shape and colour can be determined and judged online using Object Carpet's configurator. Expressive or minimalist, opulent or graphically austere? Round? Elliptical? Square? Variations according to the designer's own very specific ideas are also possible, as well as individual cuts, special shapes and even larger size formats. In addition, the Rugx series is constantly being expanded so it's always worth visiting the Object Carpet website. Or even on site in Krefeld, where a ‘glass factory’ has recently been set up.
Eddy, a high pile carpet is a new addition to the collection. It creates a particularly homely atmosphere thanks to the high density of its soft, high-quality fibres. It is available both as a carpet and as a fitted carpet in eight different, muted earth tones reminiscent of sand or pebble colours and there is also a wide choice of edgings in leather or cotton, or as a fringed or individually tailored design.
The Moody collection is also new. This velour floor has a voluminous matt structure and so creates a calm surface effect in office as well as private spaces. It is characterised by a wool-like appearance and a particularly soft feel. Available in six different colours with slightly iridescent effects, the design allows for the setting of subtle accents and thanks to its fine yarn structure and high material density, the velour provides high levels of comfort. Discreetly light Moody colours bear the names Offwhite, Creme, Greige and Pebble, while the three darker shades are named Sapphire, Graphite and Dark Blue.
Eddy and Moody, like all carpets in the Rugx collection, are equipped with a high-quality and heat-insulating felt backing called BlackThermo as standard. It is slip-resistant and ensures that no further carpet pad is necessary. This helps with costs, of course, and also ensures that the carpet lies flat by itself on any subfloor, regardless of whether it is made of wood or stone.
So, architects and designers who choose Object Carpet as a partner need not feel they have to keep their feet on the ground, but rather design freely and let their individual, customised creative visions fly free with Rugx.
