When Heimtextil describes itself as the leading trade fair for home and contract textiles and textile design, this is essentially correct. However, it does not fully capture the essence of the event. Frankfurt has long been the gathering place for all the big names in holistic interior design, contract textiles and the trends and innovations of tomorrow.
The future through the eyes of Patricia Urquiola
This is not only evident in the 3,000 exhibitors spread across a total of 17 hall levels. Visitors can also explore the developments and trends of the coming years in various special areas. With ‘among-all’, for example, Patricia Urquiola is once again presenting an exclusive design installation in Hall 3.0. 'I’m very happy to return to Heimtextil in 2026 with ‘among-all’, the second chapter of our ongoing exploration into textile thinking. This new landscape listens and responds, inviting visitors to gently activate the space through their presence,’ says the Milan-based architect and designer.Specifically, visitors will be able to influence the immersive installation. AI transforms the impulses of the people present, captured by motion sensors, into visual effects. The installation will be integrated into a construction made up of futuristic spatial elements, such as hybrid sculptures, inflated figures and hanging grid structures. A 3D-printed portal by Caracol – produced with the Heron AM robotic platform from ECONYL® chips by Aquafil – welcomes visitors to a future-oriented world of design.

Carpets & Rugs
The trade fair is also expanding in the Carpets & Rugs sector. In January, the carpet segment will cover Halls 11.0, 11.1, 12.0 and 3.0. In addition, Flooring & Equipment will complement the range with non-textile floor coverings, among other things. The highlight in the floor coverings sector will be the new Future Floor area in Hall 12.0. With a focus on sustainability, innovative materials and forward-looking designs, this area will showcase a curated selection of exhibitor products. In the Talk Spot, renowned experts will provide insights into current carpet trends and industry developments. Participants include Piotr Misiewic (de Winder Architekten) and Andreas Jacob (brandherm + krumrey). The information on offer will be rounded off by guided tours to selected must-sees.Images: © Messe Frankfurt
