The material and conceptual research continues at Lapalma, committed to its path of exploration and development of new solutions: functional, comfortable and versatile; always more focused on comfort.
Lapalma will exhibit at IMM Cologne 2016 a new stage of this research, an exploration throughout the subtle boundaries between "open house" and "light office", with a particular focus on the lounge idea, highlighted by a new catalogue that illustrates the new products, new colours and materials chosen for this area.
From the house to the office and to contract environments, the design study moves towards versatile and modular solutions, portraying a taste and a unique way of life, betting on unusual combinations, with bold and strong personality. In a sign of comfort.
Easy living, easy working: our way of life, living and working are increasingly assuming more blurred characters, with variable borders, which are evolving continuously. Common feature is the search for simple, adaptable, innovative solutions, with a strong personality but at the same time relaxing, created on tastes meeting specific needs.
The result are crossover design products, able to adapt according to variable needs.
Eclecticism is the stylistic word used to describe another Lapalma product, the perfect scope to satisfy the needs of the lounge area: the modular ADD system by Francesco Rota.
In Cologne, ADD will feature an unusual configuration, circular and with seats facing internally, as an informal “meeting table”, to look in the eyes, share opinions and different points of view, to confront and stimulate creativity, towards a flowing workplace, comfortable and cozy. Playing with different heights, drawn near to the Brio table by Romano Marcato and to the Pass chair by Hee Welling, ADD becomes an interesting proposal for waiting areas or catering spaces.
Concepto
ADD es un versátil sistema de asientos modulares, extremadamente flexibles, diseñados para satisfacer las diversas necesidades en el contexto de asientos para contrato (habitación de hoteles, sala de espera, sala de estar, estudio privados), pero también adaptables para uso residencial.
El sistema se compone de una base sobre la que se puede instalar cojines acolchados, respaldos, encimeras e otros accesorios, para obtener módulos compactos simples, como el sofá de dos plazas u otros sistemas modulares más articulados – típicos en el contrato- accesorios como mesas, bandejas, bastidores de revistas o mesas auxiliares, que incluyen tomas de corriente para teléfonos o portátiles. Desde el punto de vista de la estructura, la base se forma a partir de perfiles de aluminio, unidas por placas de acero, con correas elásticas para aumentar el confort de asiento. Cada módulo se apoya en cuatro patas en aluminio fundido a presión, lacadas a polvo como la base; para unir dos módulos sin tener el doble de pie, está prevista una pata de conexión única. La forma de los cojines, más redondeada en el centro, delimita el espacio para sentarse, que se acentúa por la costura y el contraste pronunciado: un signo típico de la artesanía, aplicada a un producto industrial. Los respaldos acolchados, son delgados y elegantes.
Líneas esenciales, limpias y simples, suavizadas por la introducción de colores y materiales de una investigación formal y en constante evolución: Lapalma continua el camino que ha comenzado l’año pasado, abordando el tema de los asientos modulares para entornos residenciales y del contrato de una manera coherente e evolucionada. Nuestros taburetes se han convertido en signos icónicos de reconocimiento de la empresa, las alturas se reducen para materializarse en propuestas frescas e innovadoras que redefinen las áreas de contrato con una visión proyectada para el máximo confort. Una filosofía que inicialmente es parte forma de una serie de proyectos, entre ellos el ADD, un sistema de bancos (sillones) al que se añade poco a poco otros productos y soluciones, unidos por un enfoque y un punto de vista extremadamente coherente.

Born in Milan in 1966, he studied at the Art Center College of Design, La Tour de Peilz, Switerland. He designed parking systems for Elektrene- a ticket machine and oil-pressure barrier for garages and public car parks. In 1995 he opened his own design office in Milan. Since 1996 he has been designed interiors of boats and rubber dinghies for Lomac Nautica, Milan. In 1997 he designs houseware and furnishing accessories for Progetti (Carate Brianza), kitchen scales, spice mills and a jug with tray for Artista Visitatore (Prato), glass-bead costume jewellery lines for Mar Mar (Milan). In the same year he opens Milan and Berlin based '21' associate practice with Michael C.Satz. In 1998 he wins the 1st prize in the international competition "Life in Motion" sponsored by Audi. He features in the followings exhibitions: "Under 35 Designers", Opos, Milan (since 1993); "Ethnologic", Zeus, Milan, 1997 and "Lighting Up Time", Gallery Ammiraglio Acton, Milan 1997.
