With Slicing, the Bjarke Ingels Group deconstructs the iconic silhouette of the successful Gople luminaire family and transforms it into a corrugated structure of stacked aluminum slats. They are connected to each other by a flexible wire so that the luminaire can be folded flat and as little packaging material as possible is required for shipping.

The purpose of sustainable use of materials is also supported by the different sizes of the six versions, which are available as pendant, wall and floor lamps and can be used both indoors and outdoors. The dimensions of the different versions are not only determined by aesthetic proportions, but also by the desire to avoid any waste of material during production. The light generated by the LED is controlled by a lens that distributes it with slightly descending optics on the row of slats. From there, the rays are directed into the body and then reflected into the room, which they bathe in a soft, diffused light. The emission is perfectly calibrated, which means that the luminaire is characterized by low light pollution outdoors.
