After graduating from University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1969, worked at architect office Kaija and Heikki Sirén. Designed interiors for public spaces, such as banks and schools in Finland. In Japan, Mr. Kotikoski designed the interior for the largest wooden building of that time, a restaurant of a golf club. In Baghdad, he designed the interior of a congress center.
During his service at architect company Erik Uhlenius, Mr. Kotikoski was involved with interior designs such as the Finnish oil company Neste’s main offices, restaurant Havis Amanda, main offices of the SYP bank and the office building of KOP bank in Luxemburg.
Mr. Kotikoski founded his own studio in 1980. His own furniture line Apollo handled over 120,000 keystrokes in a test effected at the Finnish research center VTT. He has designed over 200 private houses and villas, which often use / employ two of his favorite materials, glass and wood.
Designing sailing boats has also been one of his passions. His boats have won major competitions, such as the Gotland Runt and the Finnish Championship.
