The festival presents ambitious architecture, it provides information on current building developments and addresses explosive topics. TURN ON gives 'impulses for the future'.

At the same time,d it stands for the critical reflection of contemporary construction and focuses on the dialogue between different disciplines and sectors. All of this is summarized in two programme lines with numerous lectures. Selected projects are presented, meta-levels of architecture are touched and practical, pragmatic and political questions of building are discussed.

The keynote speech on Friday morning will be held by Yvonne Farrell, who, together with Shelly McNamara, leads the renowned Grafton Architects office in Dublin. The TURN ON TALK is devoted to the topic of current urban development – 'Railway areas – a central focus of urban development'.

'Architecture is a mirror of society – a result of technological developments, economic conditions, sociological changes and political conditions'

TURN ON PARTNER
Architecture is a mirror of society – a result of technological developments, economic conditions, sociological changes and political conditions. These lectures draw attention to selected topics of construction, for example to residential construction under the current signs, to the development of an object in the city or a district or to the advanced possibilities of traditional materials. The topic of sustainability and thus alternative energy concepts is extremely explosive today. The design of a room as well as materiality, feel and atmosphere, but also the design of furniture, on the other hand, are relevant issues over time; The same applies to design with light.

The programme is listed for the first time as an official training event at the Architects' Council of Europe. The programme is called Continuing Professional Education and is already mandatory for all architects in Germany. The event was submitted to various German chambers of architects so that the lectures can be credited.

TURN ON
In the course of the first six lectures, architects from Austria, French-speaking Switzerland and Mallorca will present a wide variety of social housing. The wide range of architectural solutions can be seen against the background of different cultures. The topic of remodeling and revitalisation, as can be seen, contains not only specific design options for living, but also eminent political aspects.

Even after the panel discussion, each lecture illustrates an individual view of architecture. This ranges from minimalist, even brutalist approaches to classicist touches to the modern interpretation of regional building. Building in the countryside is just as important as building in the small town. The program TURN ON STUDIO concludes with selected design work for Cagliari, Rovinj and St. Pölten.
