Bringing texture, depth and decadence to an interior doesn’t have to mean filling it with unnecessary objects purely to set a mood. A simple and refined route can be discovered through the walls.

Wallpaper has long been used throughout history to create a rich domestic environment. Yet for the 21st century, Italian creator of high quality wallcoverings Tecnografica offers a contemporary take – working with artists and designers on trend-anticipating prints from biophilia to Japandi, and offering a wide range of crafted finishes to bring a three-dimensional effect to walls.

Elevated interiors

Since its September 2022 launch, the ‘Metal’ finish has been most popular in the commercial sector, where it performs flawlessly as a simple (and practical) solution, making an impact in space at scale as Stefano Lamberti, head of marketing at Tecnografica, explains. 'The Metal wallpaper is an excellent design tool for commercial interiors, and especially for the hospitality sector. Its precious and refined effect is popular with restaurants and hotels seeking to create distinguished atmospheres.'

'Our range can be easily tailored to suit diverse spaces – elevating an interior from ordinary to luxury'

Lamberti continues: 'Of course, we also work with lots of private clients looking for a sensual or impactful feature wall at home. Our range can be easily tailored to suit diverse spaces from the hallway and living room, to the popular space behind the headboard in the bedroom – elevating an interior from ordinary to luxury.'

Precious metal

To complement the new metallic finish, Tecnografica has launched a wallpaper collection that highlights its natural, mystical and luxury properties. The geometric Kintsugi features golden veins, inspired by Japanese ceramics. Japan Forest depicts a natural landscape, creating a fresh interior atmosphere scented with cedar and birch trees. On the other hand, Claire de lune echoes olive tree branches illuminated by the moon; while Carillon is a pastel-toned and gold-detailed floral print of blooming hand-painted peonies.

Keeping it contemporary, these wallpapers combine manual artistic and digital techniques and are the result of in-depth studies and copious printing tests by Tecnografica’s in-house designers. 'The first four graphic wallpapers designed specially for the Metal finish consciously enhance the metallic colours of gold, silver and copper, lifting the brilliance of vibrant, saturated colours such as the popular deep blue, forest green and black,' says Lamberti. The bestselling wallpaper design for the metallic finish is Ginko, featuring an elegant and natural pattern of green ginkgo leaves highlighted with gold.

Smooth collaboration

As well as in space, Tecnografica is concerned with experience and tactility at every stage of the design process. The brand launched the new metallic finish at its very first Tecno Tour event, which saw the showroom and factory doors opened for an extensive behind-the-scenes experience for visitors. Large panels were on show for clients and designers to experience at scale, while also understanding the process and craft behind the finishes.

For those not able to make it, Tecnografica has prepared a Metal wallpaper design folder equipped with practical tools to help designers explore and refine ideas. Presented in a smart hardcover folder, a sample of the metal finish in one of the most popular graphics, Paradiso 21, is presented with a technical data sheet. From here, designers can work with Tecnografica to customise the wallpaper, which is printed on demand to specific client requirements. This all means that the subtle shimmer of the new Metal finish can be smoothly unrolled into space, creating effortless interior decadence.
