Architonic ArchDaily acquires Designboom to form new DAAily Platforms group

‘Three's a crowd,’ goes the old saying. But who said that? They clearly weren't referring to our big news...

We're delighted to announce that Architonic ArchDaily has just acquired the pioneering, agenda-setting online design magazine Designboom – joining forces to create a new family called DAAily platforms and, in doing so, consolidating our position as the global market leader in premium architecture and design.

For us, as experts in the delivery of curated project and product information, and inspiration to millions of architects globally, it makes complete sense to unite with the go-to online resource for contemporary culture and future visions in architecture, design, technology, art, and fashion.

Founded in 1999 by designers and art directors Birgit Lohmann and Massimo Mini as the world’s very first online magazine, designboom.com and its popular social-media channels boast a highly engaged, global community represented most strongly in Europe, North America, and Asia. 70 per cent of their total readership is made up of architects and designers. Which is why we've been content partners with them for years. Now it's official.

To the power of three

Architonic, ArchDaily and Designboom will continue to operate as separate and distinctively branded channels, but as one entity, DAAily platforms shares a common mission: to empower everyone who makes architecture and design happen to create a better quality of life.

The additional value we can deliver to our architectural-professional users was the key driver for this latest move. As our CEO Stephan Bachmann puts it: ‘While Architonic, ArchDaily and Designboom each address the needs of A&D professionals in a particular way – product content, project content, and news content respectively – we are united by our shared values of curation, inspiration, and relevance. Together, we form the world’s largest architecture and design community.’

What does this mean for our clients, though? Well, our now combined traffic in excess of 270 million visits annually means our ability to offer phenomenal brand visibility, as well as excellent business-generating opportunities via the coordination and cross-leveraging of our channel-specific products, services, and expertise.

For example: DAAily platforms boasts more than 21 million social-media followers, who engage strongly across various channels: 8.9 million followers on Instagram, 5.5 million followers on Facebook, 3.3 million followers on Twitter, 2.4 million followers on Pinterest, 530,000 followers on WeChat, and almost 900,000 connections on LinkedIn.
