Remember when the mark of a culturally progressive company was a smattering of beanbags in the office and maybe a table-football table? Oh, how times have changed.

As the increasing phenomenon of working from home has altered how we imagine and organise our domestic sphere, so the traditional work environment – let’s shorthand it as ‘office’ – has undergone a significant shift in its spatial and material constitution. Less rigidly programmatic, it has become, conversely, more homely. ‘One explanation,’ suggests German go-to furniture manufacturer for contract Kusch+Co, ‘may be the insight that productivity and efficiency are boosted if the staff feel comfortable in their environment.’

With modularity in mind, as well as the optimisation of interaction, communication and, of course, comfort, the brand’s recently launched Creva series deploys both a considered formal language as well as a judicious material palette to create a sense of the domestic in the workplace. Authored by Cologne-based design studio kaschkasch, it functions as a supremely configurable system, comprising such elements as tables, benches, stools, bar stools, armchairs, sofas and privacy screens.

Wood, steel and satisfyingly textured fabric meet friendly proportions to provide a flexible landscape that users can modify according to their particular needs. From free-standing benches with integrated table surfaces, via semi-private seating configurations, to self-contained, screened-off and acoustically optimised workstations, everything is possible.

Think of Creva furniture as micro-architecture where the functional possibilities are legion and the creative potential endless. Now, that’s nice work.
