When you think back to the best parties, you’ll usually end up recalling moments in the kitchen. No wonder, because this is where everything and everyone comes together – and not only when celebrating a special occasion. While the kitchen was once reserved for food preparation and optimisation of workflows, it has evolved over the decades into the multi-functional focal point within the home.
It’s not just about cooking and washing up, though, but also communicating – from apple crumble and shakshuka to political debates and kitchen table psychology. To give the kitchen lifestyle more individuality and an unconventional touch, Schock developed a coloured granite sink made of quartz composite and invited Iggy Pop to the party. Wacky and weird, but true.
In the new campaign video for the long-established company, at least, the Godfather of Punk himself is sitting on a sink-like throne in the middle of the Bavarian forest between field hamsters and otters, telling of the fairytale discovery by the Schock brothers. Anyone who feels like they can’t see the forest for the trees should stay tuned, because it turns out to be exceptionally sustainable, quite colourful and, if desired, exquisitely elegant as well.

Travelling back in time to revisit the innovative background of this unusual story: in 1979, the thinkers and tinkerers of the Schock family invented the first quartz composite sink, made from the natural quartz sand of the region. Today, around 60 per cent of all quartz composite sinks are manufactured using the process developed by Schock. Even though the company is no longer owned by the original family, the pioneering spirit and inventive DNA have remained. With a blend of craftsmanship and innovative technologies, passion and know-how, the manufacturer has imbued the sink zone with greater comfort and beauty while setting new trends over the past decades.

The innovative premium material consists of ~ 99 per cent natural, renewable or recycled raw materials. Stylish sinks in harmony with nature.
At the end of its kitchen life, CRISTADUR® Green Line can even be returned to Schock’s closed cycle and recycled for the production of new sinks. Following the course of nature, the ‘green’ sink comes in the colours Day and Night – an especially pure white and intense graphite black, with the prospect that this new generation of sinks will soon also boast a range of colours.
SINK GREEN stands not only for the new product line, but for the overall corporate philosophy. The company is laying down a positive vision for the future in the areas of production and staffing with flat hierarchies and open structures and has been climate-neutral since 2021. With the long-term goal of even replacing the finite quartz sand with a regenerative material at some point in the future.
