They warm and decorate our bodies, brighten and enliven our living spaces and improve our working environments – textiles and textile materials are inseparably connected to us and ensure a sense of well-being and comfort. But as diverse and vital as their uses are, their production is also problematic.

One of the most important measures that the textile industry can take to stop the destruction of ecosystems and biodiversity is the transition to a circular economy. After all, if materials are returned to the use cycle again and again, this not only saves resources, it also reduces waste.

‘As a nature-friendly framework of solutions, the circular economy offers answers to the interlinked problems of biodiversity and climate. Leading companies are beginning to take advantage of the opportunities available and the spread of circular innovations is now a priority,’ explains the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which is a thought leader on the circular economy.
