This video outlines the many benefits of Egger’s new collection

With architects, manufacturers and consumers increasingly clamouring for highly individual products in order to create unique interiors, design brands need to offer a multitude of designs to meet their exact requirements. An extensive product range is always a boon to interior designers or shopfitters seeking fresh ideas and genuine inspiration.

Egger, the Austrian wood-based materials specialist founded in St Johann in Tyrol in 1961, is keenly aware of the importance of whetting its design-savvy customers’ appetites with nuanced products with which they can exercise unbridled creative freedom.

Egger’s liberating, pluralist approach will be all too evident when it unveils its new Decorative collection at retail trade fair EuroShop in Düsseldorf, which will be held from 16 to 20 February, 2020. While supplying a huge palette of materials is one way to satisfy clients’ needs, another is to offer products that channel current trends.

‘About 30 per cent of our collection is made up of new designs that reflect up-to-the-minute trends,’ says Klaus Monhoff, Head of Decor and Design Management in the Egger Group. Yet its business model doesn’t neglect its clients’ desire for continuity. When a new design is successfully introduced it remains in its product range — obviously a plus point in terms of reliability — and allows clients to repurchase the same sought-after design at their own convenience.

'Egger’s antennae have astutely picked up on one current megatrend: a yearning for warm, organic surfaces that simulate those found in nature in reaction to digitalisation and its glut of 2D images'

Egger’s antennae have astutely picked up on one current megatrend: a yearning for warm, organic surfaces that simulate those found in nature in reaction to digitalisation and its glut of 2D images. Accordingly, it has developed several new products that reflect this vogue. Egger’s ST32 Feelwood Vintage surface embodies our craving for natural textures: its subtle 3D woodgrain patterns have a weathered texture that is animated when it catches the light. Another design, ST19 Deepskin Excellent, has both a matt and glossy surface that hints at painted wood. Yet another, ST20 Metal Brushed, picks up on the trend for softly metallic surfaces.

With the addition of 11 new gloss and 13 matt variants, Egger has augmented the décor range of its premium product, PerfectSense – an upscale yet robust matt or high-gloss varnished MDF panel. Meanwhile, the newly available, ultra-resistant PerfectSense TopMatt laminate will match all existing matt lacquered panels and has a warm, velvety, anti-fingerprint finish. The worktop range has been updated with two new products that meet the trend for slim and matt surfaces: the PerfectSense Topmatt worktop as well as the Compact Laminate worktop.

All Egger’s décors — finishes in plain colours or featuring reproductions of wood or other materials — are available on classic melamine-faced chipboard or MDF boards, Eurolight lightweight boards or OSB Combiline as well as on laminate. In addition, Egger offers edging solutions that are perfectly matched with the décor or creates inspiring design solutions with acrylic accent edging.

But while Egger’s new designs satisfy a growing market for textured, touchy-feely products in a world dominated by digital imagery, the brand recognises the convenience of digital technology. Indeed, Egger’s new collection can be easily viewed on a new app. Boasting a user-friendly scanning function, this provides all information relating to the Decorative Collection’s products, allows customers to experience them virtually using a 3D structure visualiser, instantly imparts information about their availability and can be used to order samples easily.

Aptly, Egger’s inclusive new collection is flagged up by the slogan, ‘Discover the power of more’. At the dawn of the new decade, the brand is ushering in a richer palette of products while introducing an app that fast-tracks the selection and ordering process. By allowing customers to enjoy vintage effects and state-of-the-art technology in tandem, Egger will be getting the best of both worlds.
