For almost a century, Italian design brand Cassina has been firmly established as one of the leading names in interior furnishings. This year the company added a significant new string to its bow with the launch of its debut lighting collection. Featuring products by established and emerging designers, the lighting range completes Cassina’s offering dedicated to creating welcoming contemporary living spaces.

The Cassina Lighting Collection originated with the discovery of lighting designs by influential 20th-century designers Charles and Ray Eames. The Eames Lighting Collection will launch in 2024 and, in the meantime, the couple have been included in the Cassina iMaestri Collection, which this year marks its 50th anniversary.

Bringing things right up to date, Cassina has worked with leading designers to create a series of products that demonstrate the brand’s commitment to contemporary design and innovation. French creator Philippe Starck developed the Valor.S table lamp and wall light, which are made using hand-painted, enamelled ceramic and display his signature smooth and organic style. Meanwhile, Italian designer Paolo Ulian created Fluxus-E, a playful table lamp made from dozens of borosilicate glass tubes that evoke the iconic Bic pen.

Cassina has also released a family of lighting products designed by Italian architect Tobia Scarpa. Each piece in the EITIE collection consists of two or three bars of light connected using circular metal joints. These scenographic illuminated elements can be rotated to adjust the lighting effect, adding atmosphere to any space.

Lastly, as part of Cassina’s Patronage project that sees the brand support young creative talent, Antwerp-based designer Linde Freya Tangelder developed Wax, Stone, Light, a sculptural lighting range comprising stacked elements made from mouth-blown Murano glass with unique textured surfaces.

The lighting products sit comfortably within Cassina’s catalogue of classic and contemporary designs, adding a key element that is essential for any interior design project. They will be available in Cassina stores and on the company’s e-commerce platform, as well as through selected retailers from autumn 2023.
