The agile concept of the Toulouse sofa system makes it perfect for building multipurpose spaces within lounges, lobbies or offices

Customisation is key in the world of contemporary contract furniture. As the ways in which we live, work and play become increasingly fluid and interchangeable, there is a need to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach to interior design. Instead, architects and designers are looking to support their clients in creating versatile private and public spaces that people want to spend time in.

BoConcept’s contract service follows a people-first philosophy that helps clients curate an environment around their brand values and the needs of end users. Decades of experience in the residential sector have informed a collection of products that suit today’s work-life blend and introduce a welcome essence of home into any scenario.

The latest product designed to support complete customisation is the innovative Toulouse sofa system. Toulouse can be used in lounges and lobbies to create a room within a room, providing spaces for users to come together and communicate, or hide away and relax. Alternatively, it can be situated in open-plan offices to create a standalone island. Seating options including low benches and high-backed sofa modules rest on a platform that can be extended to form useful surfaces, while sound-absorbing panels offer greater privacy if required.

'Everything is interchangeable and can be configured to stretch for a mile if you wish,' says Toulouse’s designer, Henrik Pedersen. 'So, I don’t see it as a sofa at all, but rather a building block in a lounge space – pixels that make up a bigger and more inspiring picture.' The system epitomises BoConcept’s desire to give people the power to shape their own world.

With Toulouse, it becomes a world of endless possibilities.
