The Smart Home as a jewel: Busch-Jaeger
A family in Datteln built itself a smart home. The home automation from BUSCH-JAEGER makes life easier, starting with door communication.

The new modern clinker brick building integrates itself perfectly into the landscape
At the end of the avenue, the new red brick building with its extravagant central facade made of sandstone integrates itself perfectly into the landscape. Already the entrance bids the visitors a warm welcome. On the left the white blossoms of the Hortensia and on the right the white Busch-Welcome® outdoor video station for door communication. This already gives the impression that you are standing in front of a smart home.

The stylish single-family house in Datteln is a perfect example of how easy a new home becomes intelligent. The young family moved in after a construction period of nine months. "We live in an architectural house that was built according to our wishes. Important to us was that it is very bright and has many windows. We wanted to combine old and new structures" explains the lady of the house. All rooms benefit from the bright and friendly atmosphere which is created by the natural light in combination with the white walls and furniture, as well as the bright tiles on the ground floor and the natural timber flooring on the upper floor.
With the Busch-free@homePanel® in the corridor all functions in the house can be controlled – starting with the lights, blinds, air-conditioning and up to the door communication system
The focal point of the smart building is the Busch-free@homePanel® located directly in the corridor. With it, the Busch-free@home® Smart Home system can be controlled and it is the connecting link to the Busch-Welcome® system. "Handling is easy and extremely user-friendly. Everything happens intuitively" the homeowner says happily and adds: "That is why Busch-Jaeger was recommended to us, and also by our home installer". The core of the Busch-free@home® Smart Home system is the System Access Point, which makes access possible with computer, tablet or smartphone via WLAN. This allows the functions of the system to be defined and remote controlled. The System Access Point is installed in the central cabinet with the Modular DIN-Rail Components in the cellar.

Switching and dimming of lights, controlling blinds, adjusting the heating and air-conditioning, coordinating the door communication – everything is controlled by the young couple via the Busch-free@homePanel® or – following the mobile trend - via smartphone. "For example, I control the blinds up to 90 percent with the mobile phone via my BUSCH-JAEGER Internet portal," says the lady of the house. "We have selected the setting so that the light outside switches on automatically when it gets dark and the blinds move down."
ABB-free@home® can also be optimally used for suitable illumination of individual rooms or the entire house. For example, with striking light scenes – for different moods and to suit the occasion. "This we still need to adjust", the lady of the house admits. However, the touch-dimmers for the LED illumination make it particularly easy already now and offer refined comfort. For example, when switching the light on again the brightness level selected last is automatically restored. A brief press means switching, a long press means dimming.
Both switch ranges Busch-axcent® (on the ground floor) and Busch-balance® SI (on the top floor) are installed in the house. Especially on the ground floor do blind and push-button switches, socket-outlets and SCHUKO® USB socket outlets catch the eye due to the glass frame. The Busch-axcent® range also impresses with its lively and consistent design as well as the puristic, elegant optics.

The room temperature controller with its actual value display provides additional comfort and energy efficiency. The temperature can be set precisely with the rotary control element. The viewing window always displays the current temperature in the room. Heating to meet the requirements is the key to energy saving because one degree less saves around six percent of heating energy. An excellent side effect when the stylish combination of living and dining room with the four terrace doors is still comfortably heated.
Access from the corridor to the upper floor of the 220-square-metres large family house is gained via a white staircase made of natural wood. Busch-iceLight® shows the way. The innovative LED lighting system has been specially developed for the energy-efficient illumination of rooms. Once you arrive at the top, you find three bedrooms and a large bathroom. In the modern bathrooms, and on the top and ground floors, the Busch-RadioDigital system with its built-in loudspeakers cares for entertainment. Also, the radio goes on directly when the light is switched on.

The highlight, however, is the atrium. "This is the most beautiful place in the house. Our little daughter loves it", the lady of the house reveals. When you sit in the comfortable wing chair, the view from the window front sweeps over the idyllic deer enclosure.
To ensure that visitors can also be recognised from the top floor, a Busch-Welcome® indoor audio station has been installed. Here, call acceptance, door opener, mute function and corridor light are easily controlled via the cover plate of the illuminated display. Just another aspect of the perfectly networked house. "Though the home automation is a touch of luxury, it also represents freedom for us", the lady of the house contentedly explains. Her home is a real jewel.
