"Chairs for the brave", in the words of Studio Benkert. These seating sculptures are made not just to be looked at, but actually sat in. The Bavaria-based family company currently offers three different series

Models GB 21–32 feature straight lines and sharp edges. They are made out of 2.5-millimetre perforated sheet metal that is welded and polished by hand

The seating sculptures GB 51–59 play with curved lines and forms, in contours that are lasered out of stainless steel and then worked by hand into their final form

The seating sculptures of the series SW are fabricated out of a high-performance wood-fibre material and resemble dark, curved bands
