PLANK‘s presentation at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025 is again characterised by a simple, museum-like architecture with the evolution of its most iconic products at its centre.

Among the new designs, PLANK presents SOL and SOMBRA, designed by Konstantin Grcic. Two lounge chairs that express distinct identities while sharing a common foundation. While SOL is intended for dynamic and active lounge spaces, SOMBRA, with its softer and more welcoming shape, invites for relaxation.
Once again, the VELIT outdoor collection by Björn Dahlström will be showcased, continuing to be one of our bestsellers due to its lightness, versatility, and timeless functional design. This year, the VELIT outdoor collection is enhanced with new cushions, increasing comfort and suggesting its use in indoor spaces as well.
In addition, the TO side table and BLOCCO stool by Naoto Fukasawa are an integral part of the exhibition, combining simplicity and functionality, enhancing the overall presentation.
The RANDEVU table, designed by Biagio Cisotti and Sandra Laube, intended for both outdoor and indoor use, is also part of our presentation again. A functional, elegant table, ideal for contract, hospitality, and home use.
The 63rd edition of the Salone del Mobile is again a unique opportunity for PLANK to present its design work while creating a space for meeting and interaction.

SOL & SOMBRA – A Dialogue in Contrast

Like sun and shadow, SOL and SOMBRA were designed as a deliberate pair—two chairs that share a common foundation, yet express distinct identities. Rather than merging different qualities into one, they are intentionally separate: SOL is compact and agile, while SOMBRA is more generous and relaxed.
Both chairs are crafted from solid ash, a material that not only ensures longevity but also evokes certain historical references. The vertically oriented legs and strictly horizontal armrests create a sense of space around the sitter, offering a calm, open presence. Details such as the slightly tapered foot ends and the carved-out armrests enhance the sense of craftsmanship in both designs.
SOL has a compact footprint and offers a low yet active seating posture. Its plywood seat and backrest are designed to interlock, allowing the backrest to flex freely and comfortably.
SOMBRA is wider, softer, and more classic in its design. It features an upholstered seat and backrest cushion, with broad armrests that provide a convenient surface for resting a phone, book, or drink.
Available in natural or colour-stained ash, with soft woollen or leather upholstery, SOL & SOMBRA complement each other— two chairs, distinct yet connected.
