On the level: the Dauphin Heartbar

In our everyday working lives, we have come to learn just how detached we can be from a fixed location while continuing to carry out tasks. In the meantime, we can also sense how companies are reacting to this new reality in the long term – because digitalisation and globalisation make it possible to no longer have to consider the office as the sole production and command centre of all conceivable services and administrative tasks. What in the end, is the point of the office if the actual work can be done practically at any time and in any place? And why is the office still so important?

Meeting promotes connectedness

The office ensures what is an innermost need for all of us: companionship. It is a not insignificant factor in why we feel connected and loyal to a company. Ultimately, of course, every form of office is a meeting place where professional as well as private contacts are found and cultivated. If one is explicitly aware of this, rooms can be designed accordingly. For example, the Dauphin HumanDesign Group suggests a central ‘heart bar’ as part of its new ‘Dauphin Workheart’ concept.

This can take the form of a kitchen island with a handful of standing stools or be defined as a cosy lounge. The only important thing is that you pass it at best on your way to the desks or conference areas – so that spontaneous encounters can really take place. ‘The “Heartbar” is the heart of our concept, the place where everyone in the company meets on common ground,’ emphasises the Dauphin HumanDesign Group. It reflects a corporate culture that is oriented towards the individual, where efficiency and productivity are balanced with emotionality, authenticity and passion.
