MBM introduces FUREMA, a sustainable teak alternative crafted from recycled plastic and rice husks, showcased in their new outdoor collection, 'Surf'

FUREMA, featured in the 'Sumba' (above) and 'Piano' (below) collections, mimics the look and feel of teak wood, offering the same qualities and other advantages
Like wood, only better
When it comes to durability and resilience ‘FUREMA’ is referred to – a high-tech material that looks just like its natural counterpart, and not only that, it feels just like it too. However, its greatest strength, besides its appearance, is the sustainability that comes with the use of this material. The driving force behind the development of FUREMA – a neologism derived from ‘Furniture Resysta Material’ – was the meticulous search for an appealing alternative to teak, which is no longer considered modern due to its disproportionate heavy extraction and the resulting ecological imbalance.‘Raw materials that we extract from nature should be used for as long as possible – MBM, therefore, began developing an alternative for tropical teak wood at an early stage’

MBM's latest FUREMA outdoor collection redefines comfort in outdoor spaces, from the 'Circular' lounge area (above), the ‘Puro’ lounge (middle) to the 'Violino' dining and lounge furniture (below)
Living the lightness
The outdoor furniture manufacturer's portfolio reflects all facets of an inviting and enjoyable time in an outdoor oasis. Starting with the ‘Circular’ lounge island, a circular daybed where one can relax alone or with a partner. It convincingly demonstrates that FUREMA can also be ideally bent into circular shapes. The range continues with the ‘Violino’ dining and lounge furniture collection, an iconic combination of FUREMA, metal and rope in Forest Green and Stardust Gold, with a frame resembling an abstract musical clef. The portfolio is rounded off with the ‘Wind’ collection, which – inspired by the lightness of the wind – embodies a refreshing sense of ease with a backrest made of ropes and a frame made of FUREMA. This garden chair was honoured with the German Design Award 2025.‘We work daily to make the recycling process as simple as possible and to offer products that will conserve not only our resources today, but also tomorrow’

Whether in the frame of the 'Wind' (above) garden chair or the 'Izu' collection (below), FUREMA ensures durable outdoor furniture that transforms any outdoor setting
