The Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, literally translated as ‘forest bathing’, is gaining appeal internationally as a health remedy for our stressful urban lives. Developed in the 1980s, the philosophy seeks to re-connect people with nature by physically immersing them in it for an intensive period of time.
Many of its health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure and aiding sleep, can be connected directly to problems caused by our increasingly sedentary and indoor lifestyles, which can often be the cause of depression and anxiety.

We clearly need to live closer to nature, but the reality is that we can’t all go forest bathing every day. Instead, we need architecture and design that encourages that connection – windows for maximum daylight, good ventilation for fresh air and living spaces that can open up to the elements.
The Renson Camargue Skye patio cover creates an outdoor space that we can use all year round. Floating above a patio like a tree canopy, it can be constructed in different ways to suit its location: freestanding, attached to an outer wall, or connected by its pivot.

Just like nature, the Camargue Skye can change with the seasons. The louvred roof can smoothly extend or retract. The rotating blades can be adjusted to suit the required sun protection and ventilation. We can be as exposed or protected from the elements as we like, while always remaining outside.
The design connects modern life to nature with endless options for personalisation – from integrated windproof Fixscreen solar screens and Loggia sliding panels to ambient LED lighting.
