Klöber's homely New Work model

German office seating specialist Klöber draws inspiration from the natural environment around its headquarters on Lake Constance, creating furniture that fits neatly into both homely working environments and private living landscapes.

For almost 90 years, Lake Constance-based Klöber has been manufacturing high-quality office chairs that combine healthy sitting with sophisticated design. The landscape of the region has remained an important source of inspiration over the years and its chairs are still manufactured locally. Despite its ties to both tradition and the local area, however, the manufacturer lacks neither cosmopolitanism nor a spirit of innovation as it continues to pursue its goal of helping to shape the working environments of today as well as tomorrow. With New Work, the more comfort-related aspects of office landscapes are more and more in focus, or as Klöber's head designer Jörg Bernauer puts it: ‘The visual and atmospheric aspects of working environments are increasingly moving towards the homely.’

Well-being through homeliness

A major reason for this development is the realisation that people are better able to do good work when they feel comfortable at work. ‘New working models, therefore, require new spatial concepts to promote the well-being of employees,’ says managing director Thomas Möller. For Klöber, homeliness is an essential component of contemporary space concepts, because a home-like ambience helps to create places to which people feel positively and emotionally attached. Such places offer room for free development and thus form a basis for creativity and innovation as well as positive communication and cooperation. Klöber's furniture brings a modern cosiness to the working world – and naturally then also fits perfectly into private living environments.

Colours inspired by nature

Colours play a major role in the orientation of the company's current models. Under the motto ‘Inspired by Nature’, Klöber's creative minds take inspiration from the landscape around the company headquarters on Lake Constance. The harmoniously coordinated colour palette is based on the plants, soil, stones and water of the area, further emphasising the friendly and homely character of its products.

The natural environment of the region is not only reflected in the colour of the furniture, however, it also shapes the entire company philosophy with its inspiring beauty. Environmental protection and sustainability are, as Möller points out, ‘a matter of course for Klöber’. For architects and interior designers, Klöber, therefore, represents both a sustainable and aesthetic solution when it comes to designing contemporary office and living spaces.

An excellent example of homely design is the manufacturer's Wooom series. With round, flowing forms and soft, warm materials, the collection fulfils the desire for harmonious interplay between living and working. The series' armchairs and chairs, which are as aesthetic as they are comfortable, fit into any living space and also transform work environments into places of well-being. They create islands of tranquillity or create cosy meeting zones in open-space offices. In lounges and waiting areas, too, the seating furniture turns lingering into a comfortable pleasure. CoMeet stands for ‘coffee’ and ‘meeting’ and accordingly combines the worlds of work and living. With its clear design language and colour concept inspired by nature, the chair fits into any setting, spreading a welcomingly pleasant atmosphere around it.
