With great sincerity, Japanese design brand Ritzwell seeks to discover how these genuine connections can be formed. By combining history with artisanal craftsmanship and natural materials, each piece of furniture is designed to draw us in emotionally, with quality to last beyond a lifetime.
An object can be understood by its history, and Ritzwell carries its own in each piece of furniture it designs and manufactures. While informed by the Modernism of the mid-20th century, it looks back far beyond its founding in 1992, and draws from an intrinsic Japanese temperament developed over centuries that is sensitive, meticulous and conscientious.

Imbuing this temperament into each design starts with providing a peaceful, natural working environment for craftsmen at the Itoshima Seaside Factory by the Genkai Sea, surrounded by mountains and pine forests. Ritzwell believes that enhancing an initial human bond with the furniture will enhance the connection with its user.

This may seem radical, yet it is also practical. If a piece of furniture is going to last generations, it needs to be well-made with patience, care and attention to detail. From woodworking to upholstery and sewing, craftsmen expertly combine traditional craft with modern technology to create durable designs.
Evidence of craft and the patina of natural materials make an object feel unique to us. Materials such as wood, leather and textiles, combined with design tailored to the comfort of the body, appeal directly to our humanity.
