Concrete control: KNX building-systems technology by Busch-Jaeger
For the Bammental weekend house near Heidelberg, BUSCH-JAEGER supplied the minimalist concrete monolith with the KNX building-control system, offering enhanced personalised comforts for a complete holiday feeling.

A KNX system is a real asset especially when a domicile isn’t in constant use. Being able to control all of its functions from afar offers many advantages, along with a strong sense of security. For the remote systems control of their weekend house, the Schweigert family decided on the KNX system from Busch-Jaeger, which can be easily controlled via the Busch-ComfortPanel or by smartphone and tablet.

At one with architecture
Consistency is key. The puristically designed concrete house, nestled in the landscape like a black monolith, has an interior done completely in white – from the floors to the ceilings to the furnishings. To avoid a colour clash, all of the flush-mounted switches and sockets in the house, from Busch-Jaeger’s luxury carat® series, were given a special white matt finish. The functions are centrally controlled by means of the Busch-ComfortPanel, within which reside the full spectrum of amenities of an infotainment and entertainment centre. The user can enjoy any and all of the options, in addition to light and temperature control, presence simulation and changing scenery.
Coming to stay
Entirely in keeping with his daily habits, the user navigates with the intuitive slide function and the touch control is supported by an innovative colour-coded system, accompanied by the practical aspect of ‘getting there’ before you’ve actually arrived. The Schweigert family is enthusiastic: ‘While we’re on the way to the weekend house, we can, for example, set the heating to the temperature we want.’ And they know how to make ideal use of the advantages of the installed ABB i-bus® KNX. The right temperature, the right music and the right light ambience offer not only the full enjoyment of modern architecture but considerably increase quality of life as well. Apropos quality, architects also have reason to rejoice. In the future, planning will be made easier without the burden of cross and toggle switches.
