From Alexa to the Fitbit, highly-complex technology is more often than not encased in a deceptively simple piece of hardware, and top-of-the-range speakers are following suit. At DALI’s facility in Denmark, its CI Hi-Fi speakers are built by acoustic-engineering specialists who are devoted to getting only the best performance out of technology. This means that DALI develops its own unique driver technologies optimised to their own loudspeakers in order to create immersive high fidelity audio experiences.
The cabinets house a raft of technology including a multitude of woofers and tweeters, each optimised towards its distinct role in recreating the original sound that the artist intended. The drivers are designed for ‘wide dispersion’ – thus delivering a smoother sound and a larger ‘sweet spot’ for the listener. This means that in contrast with some other models, DALI’s don’t need to be turned directly towards the listener, nor is the listener’s experience dependent on being close to the speaker.

This has a knock-on effect for architects and interior designers, allowing for the creation of audio spaces – for playing an album, watching a film or listening to a keynote speech – with no need for compromise on the design aesthetic.
What do people expect from their sound systems? Authenticity is high on the list – a reproduction of sound as the artist intended it. In other words, good Hi-Fi is like listening live. To pull this off, DALI’s team has developed low-loss technologies, which minimises mechanical and electrical loss, thereby maximizing audio quality. This means that the recorded sound emitted from its speakers is literally faithful to the sound of the original recording.
What a performance: CI Hi-Fi speakers are specially designed to deliver a widely dispersed sound, meaning coverage is uniform

But however good the speaker is, if it’s the wrong speaker for the size or shape of the room, or if it’s in the wrong position, the listener will suffer. If, on the other hand, the speaker is perfectly matched to the room size, both under- and over-performance is avoided. In addition, combining in-wall loudspeakers with those that are ceiling-mounted can create an immersive audio experience.
