The Parliament building ("Schweizer Bundeshaus"), in the capital city of Switzerland, is the most important political building in the country. Therefore the main focus of the lighting design is the historical and monumental character of the parliament building in Bern.

The design of the new, visible luminaries is clear and simple and they are made of very high quality materials. All light fixtures were intended to the smallest detail, such as glass grindings matching the surrounding background.
This form language allows the coexistence of the modern elements in between the historical environment.

The new suspended lamps in the vestibule are arranged into three different emission parts. Thus a sufficient lighting of the stair ranges, a subtle design of the space surface structures and a good visibility of the dome are ensured.
The national council hall is illuminated in a glare-free and homogeneous light with high density of light. The suspended lamps in the conference rooms are fitted with three different light functions; bright direct and indirect light for the meeting situation and a downlight function for beamer presentations.

To support the architectural importance of the two newel stairs, wall mounted fixtures with LEDs have been planned. These fixtures lighten up the stairs and accent at the same time their lower granite surface without generating unintentional reflections in the glass.
Whenever possible new luminaries have been hidden in the historic fabric of the building otherwise they were well integrated. Of course lamps with historical importance have been maintained, if necessary they were provided with modern light sources. This surface-mounted Lamp is made of high-quality materials and decorated with a glass grinding.

Of course only efficient lamps and daylight or presence sensors were planned in order to minimize the used energy.
