MONTPELLIER
DESIGN-CENTER MEETS DESIGN UMBRELLAS

THE NEW RBC DESIGN – CENTER IN MONTPELLIER REQUIRED AN IMPRESSIVE UMBRELLA WHICH WOULD BOTH REFLECT THE ARCHITECTURAL INTENT OF THE BUILDING AND DELIVER SUN – AND – RAIN – PROTECTION. FOR THIS REASON THE UNIQUE DOUBLE – MEMBRANE UMBRELLA TYPE AV WAS CHOOSEN.

CONSTRUCTION
Single umbrellas can be arranged as detached objects, or by linking them together, they have the ability to create a closed roof-scape. The umbrella adds functional value by utilizing a sophisticated construction system that incorporates both collapsing mechanisms and integrated drainage system. Of course these systems are invisible to the user. At night the chromed mast seems to disappear as it reflects the largely dark background, by contrast, the dual membrane floats as a luminous pillow above the ground.

KEEPING A LID ON THINGS - CANOPY ZIPPERS
Zippers on all four sides of the umbrella ensure waterproof joints. Water runs from one umbrella’s upper membrane to a connective seam in the lower membrane of the neighboring umbrella, where it is then conducted away via the mast and fed into the drainage system at the base. This system enabled MDT to protect the area from sun and rain. This unique concept amazed the clients. The usage of illumination as well as the unique construction makes these umbrellas a special experience, partilcularly at night.
