Expo Milano 2015, feeding the planet – energy for life, is the World’s Fair with more than 140 participating Countries and international organizations gathered for the largest event ever organized concerning food and nutrition.
The Pavilions, arranged across an area of 1.1 million square meters, are the real protagonists of the Expo where Countries from all around the world , starting from their culture and traditions, are encouraged to pose questions and propose solutions for the big challenges linked to previsions about nutrition.
Through the installed lighting solutions, Linea Light Group is one of the companies contributing to the enhancement of the pavilions’ structures and exhibition spaces, highlighting details and geometries, putting into focus and sharpening the environment, colors and exposed subjects, as well as creating chromatic effects following architectural elements and emotional aims at sunset.

IRAN Pavilion

The most striking example of Linea Light Group’s contribution is the IRAN Pavilion lighting technical project: numerous downlights, projectors and i-LèD strips, Khono from the brand Tràddel and Circle Wave by Ma&De value and emphasize the architecture and shapes of the pavilion with light games and harmonious colors.

A floor made of LEDs that looks like a river appearing and disappearing from the ground guides visitors. At night, when the sun goes down, the pavilion is even more enchanting, thanks to the magical atmosphere created by the lights colouring the walls and reflecting on the mirrors hanging from the ceiling.

The lighting technology project by architect Asghar Firouzabadi has been achieved using different products, each product having a specific function:

• Portik – outdoor downlights, playing a leading role in the pavilion. They are installed along the whole arch of the exhibition area ceiling and, together with an interplay of mirrors, create several triangular prisms and reflect the wealth of colours of the plants and the other elements on the ground. The huge screen plays its role by enlivening the only solid wall.

• Pixar – garden spotlights are employed in this pavilion in an atypical way. Installed parallel to the columns supporting the "open" side of the structure, the spotlights provide illumination for their full length, thus highlighting their architectural features, especially at night.

• Dorian - Cob65 - Dave Pro – downlights installed in the suspended panels making up the grid over the restaurant and shop areas.

• Strip led RGB – strips installed along the whole perimeter of the pavilion open structure. At night, the light colour changes and highlights the Iranian flag and the pavilion silhouette.

• Khono – lights installed in the lush typical garden, lead to the entrance and illuminate the surrounding plants.

• Circle Wave – suspension lights installed in the cinema room.

WAA-AMIA/CONAF

Pixar, Strip, Angular, Vos and MyWhite enlighten the WAA-AMIA/CONAF pavilion, also known as the farm of future; an open sky laboratory to share ideas and discuss at the “Table of democracy”.

Children Park

Linea Light also provided with part of its lighting system the Children Park, a play area dedicated to children. The project was conceived to lighten up a path of experiences, activities and stimulating simulations, as well as to create a relaxing atmosphere. “Drop by drop” is the name of the structure hosting 500 Anton, 450 white and 50 blue, of the brand i-LèD: in this interactive space visitors can pick up the water falling down from the tubes located in the center, then pouring it back in a specific container giving life to plants and flowers. The blue Anton light signals from where the water will descend indicating the collection point to the children. When the sun has set, the light game created by white and blue Anton makes “Drop by drop” one of the true protagonists of the Children Park.

CIBUSèITALIA

“CIBUSèITALIA” is a place created as a center of dissemination and valorisation of the Italian food industry and its Brands of excellence. The structure, which has zero environmental impact, is a monolith able to reflect light and play with colorful light flashes, always “natural” and modifiable. Inside the meeting room, behind the plastic coated paper blocks which entirely cover it, the Edith suspended lamps by Linea Light Group project their diffused light. Outside, a series of Starline lights is located on one of the external facades of the pavilion lighting up the art wall of “CIBUS IN FABULA”, initiative of the pavilion for a Street Art and Digital Exhibition that describes the Italian savoir faire. Every month the giant wall, enlightened top-down, hosts new pieces of art signed by different artists from all around the world.

KIP

Inside the KIP Pavilion, devised as an international meeting point for institutions, associations and privates on issues concerning local development, the Blob downlight illuminates several spaces. One of them is the cafeteria glass-covered ceiling, characterized by a circular plasterboard structure preceding the rounded window where we can see several Blob organized along its perimeter.
You can also spot the MiniOutline that, together with the Blob downlights, lightens up the refreshment area.
Then, the Laica_T projectors perfectly stand out in the room of the pavilion dedicated to the photography exhibition, where they frame the photographs illuminating them and bringing out the colors in all their beauty. Finally, the Quad wall lamp by Ma&De brightens the stairwells linking the ground floor to the meeting spaces located on other floors, also illuminating some walls of those spaces.

Belarus pavilion

The Belarus pavilion, made up of a long corridor animated by ground projections and descriptive videos about the Nation, is entirely traced with RGB i-LèD Dropper lights.
On the left wall, in fact, a game of strips with geometric profiles runs along all the structure, enlightened by the color changing Dropper lights that support the on ground and screen video projections also enhancing the shapes of the strips.
