Hotel Carlota by JSª

Located in the heart of Mexico City, just a few steps from Reforma Avenue at the Cuauhtemoc neighborhood, characterized by its history and contrasts, an old acquaintance is reinvented and transformed into a hotel, making honor to the city in which it lives. This rediscovered space is the first concept of urban hotel in the country.

The starting point of this project was an urbanarcheological work. We found a building in complete decadence, formerly named Hotel Jardin Amazonas, while researching and analizing it, a couple of images from its splendorous times caiught our attention, specially the central court yard that figured an oasis within the city. Nothing remained from that hotel apart from the typical structure of a motel, with exterior corridors and balconies above the courtyard, as well as countless layers of coverings, aggregates, stairs and patches. Today the hotel has 36 rooms, each custom designed.
