SIGNATURE RUGS | Forbidden City

Rugs from Urban Fabric Rugs, Designed by Andrei Zerebecky

Product description

Our Signature Forbidden City rug depicts the former Imperial Palace, a walled city surrounded by a moat, at the center of modern-day Beijing. The Forbidden City’s urban plan is dominated by a central North-South axis, a line that has influenced the placement of subsequent monuments in the city that has grown around it. This rectangular rug design follows the outline of the Forbidden City’s walls and depicts the hundreds of structures within. The iconic, swooping rooflines of these structures inspired a ‘Terracotta and Imperial Gold’ colorway.
The Signature rug is tufted at multiple cut pile heights with 100% New Zealand wool, then hand-carved to give the urban pattern a plush, 3D relief texture.
