Unusual in their shape at first glance, the function and purpose of the sculptural, minimalist coffee and side table only become apparent when placed together and their sloped surfaces create a display for literature.
The coffee table ‘has undergone an evolution from functional storage object to pedestal of culture often occupying a place of prestige where we display our cultural connections.’ The coffee table book is given a whole new importance; a statement is made by placing literature, art book or magazine openly on display.
The Prop Table was originally commissioned for London’s Rocket Gallery and featured in their exhibition ‘Book a Table’.
