Concept

The Wheel swing seat is sculptural and dynamic. Its striking circular shape lends itself for use as a functional art piece.
The chair has an open yet enveloping feel.
The pattern detail is inspired by nature and reminiscent of the veins in leaves, tree branches intersecting, the patterns in dragonfly wings, cracked soil and natural textures.

Each one is made by hand, and the core frame is standard to ensure consistency in shape and comfort. Due to the variance of craftsmanship going into each chair, every piece has individualism and uniqueness in some of the pattern detailing.
They are ideal for inside or outside use and look gorgeous on a deck, patio, hanging from a branch of a tree or anywhere indoors.
One of the finishes that can be chosen is Ferrograin Black for indoor use, that has a sensual feel that is soft and suede like to the touch.
Finish: Glossy or Matt (ferrograin - indoor)
Materials : Mild steel or Stainless Steel (recommended for humid, salty coastal regions)
Colours : Black, White, Light Grey, Medium grey, Dark Grey, Green, Pink, Blue, Silver, Gold, Red (enquire about other colours - can investigate on request – added charge applies)

These chairs are made from mild steel and are very durable. Stainless Steel is recommended for high moisture and salty conditions - available on request and with small surcharge.
They are rust treated similar to what is done on the chassis of a car for rust resistance.
They are also powder coated in a variety of colours.
The hanging mechanisms are supplied with the chair - in standard lengths, ready for installation.

The NDEBELE WHEEL follows the classic shape of Studio Stirlings’ original WHEEL but with an African inspired design inside.
The pattern detail is inspired by the geometric Ndebele artworks used in house painting which is practiced by the Southern Ndebele people of South Africa.
The NDEBELE WHEEL is available in 2 different shapes - one a uniform cylinder the other, a more dynamic shape which ends at a sharp point.

Studio Stirlings’ owner and designer Joanina has an award winning background in visual art, design and advertising but always had a passion for furniture - particularly hanging chairs.
Studio Stirling has been recognised globally for their luxury, handmade swing seats, hammocks, loungers and daybeds. Most models can come with the option of legs or base stand. They are perfect outdoor on any patio, porch, or garden space and looks great anywhere indoors.
Their most popular swing chairs are their BUBBLE, NEST EGG, RECLINER and stunning leather SLING chairs which are a timeless classic that will turn heads and be the topic of conversation.
Joanina draws inspiration from nature and her surroundings - giving rise to Studio Stirlings’ iconic Twig Pattern which features as an option for most chairs, as well as the Jozi / Egoli design inspired by her hometown, the city of gold - Johannesburg, South Africa
These swing chairs and loungers are loved by adults, children and pets alike, creating the feeling of serenity and joy in their cocoon-like shape.
Joanina is open to exploring ideas to create fresh, innovative and contemporary designs - this is how the Lucky Bean and Vegan leather option came to be.
