The refurbishment and energy renovation of the old dairy factory into a modern shared offices entailed replacing the old polymer facade panels with custom solar facade panels of the same color to keep the identity of the original building. Due to the space constraints of the existing concrete structure a very low build height mounting solution of around 45mm was developed and it allowed for tool free installation, while at the same time allowing sufficient ventilation to ensure a long operational life for the solar façade. The panel system provides a custom ventilated facade with a resilient, durable and low-maintenance rainscreen. Built from mostly recycled resources the facade is fully recycleable with 96% recovery and willl pay for itself both financially and environmentally in a few years.
