Sibast No 7

Chairs from Sibast Furniture, Designed by Helge Sibast

Product description

Concept

Sibast No 7 was designed in 1953 by Helge Sibast. It is the second chair re-launched by the grandson to the designer, Ditlev Sibast and his wife Anna, the owners of the Danish design company Sibast Furniture.

The characteristic press moulded backrest defines the chair and gives a good seating comfort. It makes the design very unique however still with clear relations back to the 1950’s where Helge Sibast challenged the ways of working with wood in his designs. Being a skilled cabinetmaker he did the manufacturing of his designs himself. The bag legs of the chair are slightly narrowed which brings simplicity to the design. The seating construction lifts the seat free of the legs and gives lightness to the chair. Sustainable and simplistic in its design and a unique Danish design classic that goes beyond Sibast No 8.

‘With humility and outmost respect for our Danish design heritage we have with our passion for beautiful design continued to develop new ideas for launching Sibast items bringing them into the twenty-first century however always staying true to the design, quality and craftsmanship by which our grandfather’s designs were made in” says the new founders of Sibast Furniture;Anna and Ditlev Sibast Anna and Ditlev Sibast created the new design company Sibast Furniture withthe purpose of bringing their design legacy forward. As the grandson says:“because our Danish design heritage commits us…”
