GranTorino HB Sofa

A bold design, compact shape and light structure. An elegant nod to classic upholstery. Jean-Marie Massaud takes inspiration from the world of saddlery with his GranTorino design: a modular sofa with an exquisite, original version that combines Saddle Leather® Extra and fabric. Hand-cut, hand-shaped leather closely moulds the lines and structure of the seat, including the upper part of the backrest, to bring out their true beauty. The high, slim armrest also presents intricate, careful workmanship and has a leather cover that folds down on the inside and is attached to the frame with elegant steel rivets designed by Poltrona Frau. The small but spacious trunk-container also acts as an armrest; it is entirely upholstered in leather and has an ecru fabric interior with an elegant, natural oak tray. An additional element of this composition is the low armrest, which can be added or removed as desired and has fabric or leather upholstery. The cushions have beautiful horizontal stitching in the centre, which gives the sofa a sense of visual lightness. In all of the versions available − which combine Pelle Frau® leather from the Color System and Pelle Frau® Nest with fabric or Saddle Leather® Extra − the most striking thing about GranTorino is its bold design: comfortable seats, compact, well-cut shapes that reduce the overall dimensions to a minimum, and subtle T-shaped feet that are hidden from view and raise the frame off the ground. And, above all else, a huge amount of freedom in how you put it all together. The two and threeseater sofas can easily be joined up and hooked together with the metal component and you can choose from various types of armrest and alternate them as desired. The sofa comes with a swivel chair with a 4-spoke base and a 360°-rotation mechanism that then automatically returns to the starting position. The GranTorino frame is in tubular metal with interwoven elastic straps. The backrests and armrests are made of birch and poplar plywood. The padding is made of pressed felt and polyurethane foam in
varied densities. The backrest cushions are padded with goose down and have separate horizontal chambers for varied, ergonomic comfort. The feet are aluminium with titanium-coloured varnish.
